How do I setup the Bridge from Quick Quote?

-Instructions for INSTALLATION of the Midlands Rater Bridge-
(QQ Bridge Setup)

This install differs from the ZERO INSTALL option in that it copies a very small program to the computer or server that accomplishes the “copy and paste” step of the bridge – making the bridge easier to use.

For each computer (or on the server for a network install) do the following :
  1. In QQ, verify the SAVER tab path. Use this drive letter for the Midlands directory.

  2. Be sure the user has a website login (create one if necessary)

  3. Have user login to the midlandsmgtauto.com website, and be sure the QUOTE tab is active

  4. Go to the “My Account” tab in the Producer section of the website

  5. Click on “Get QQ Bridge File”

  6. Fill out the form – an explanation of the options are as follows:

  7. • Pick NORMAL Install- this is the small program install download.
    • Pick the browser used, and check that its path is correct. Defaults to IE.
    • Check and change if necessary the Company Directory (directory where the bridge files will be located).
This is the DRIVE LETTER from step 1. For a local install c:\midlands should be ok to use. For a server install, the location might be something like F:\midlands.
    • Checking “Enable Automatic login” preloads the user name and password into the bridge files, and allows a bridge without having to login to the website each time. Uncheck this if one computer or server is being utilized by multiple AGENT number logins – which will force the person doing the bridge to authenticate to the website during each bridge.
    * note: if a users name or password changes, and they have the automatic login set, you will need to download and install the bridge program again.

  8. Click the “Download File” button

  9. Run the file that is downloaded – either from the browser, or by saving it to the hard drive and running it after it is saved. The “midlands_bridge_installer.exe” file (which is a self-extracting zip file) creates a midlands directory, and drops about 10 files into it. Run the program from the root directory of where you want the midlands directory to be (the driver letter from step 1). So for a C:\midlands install, you should run this program from C:\. This program does NOT change the registry or do anything else except create the midlands directory and extract the few files into it.

  10. Close the browser

  11. Test the Bridge with a sample quote using firstname TEST and lastname TEST

  12. Overview the website with the user

How do I setup the Bridge from ITC?

Instructions for NORMAL INSTALL of the Midlands Rater Bridge
(ITC Bridge Setup)

For each computer (or server for a network install) do the following :
  1. Have user login to the midlandsmgtauto.com website, and be sure the QUOTE tab is active

  2. Go to the “My Account” tab in the Producer section of the website

  3. Click on “Get ITC Bridge File”

  4. Fill out the form – explanations of the options are as follows -
    • Pick NORMAL Install – this is the small program install download.
    • Pick the browser used, and check that its path is correct. Defaults to Internet Explorer (IE).
    • Check and change if necessary the Company Directory (directory where the bridge files are located). For a local install \midlands (the default) or c:\midlands should be ok to use. For a server install, if the Company Directory is on the same drive as ITC, the default location (\midlands) will be OK. If on another drive, the location might be something like F:\midlands.
    • Checking “Enable Automatic login” preloads the user name and password into the bridge files, and allows a bridge without having to log in to the website each time. Uncheck this if one computer or server is being used by multiple logins/user names – which will force the person doing the bridge to log in to the website during each bridge.
    * note: if a users name or password changes, and they have the automatic login set, you will need to download and install the bridge program again.

  5. Click the “Download File” button

  6. Save file that is downloaded to the same drive ITC is located on.

  7. "Open Folder" or browse "My Computer" to find the location where the file was downloaded

  8. The “midlands_bridge_installer.exe” file (which is a self-extracting zip file) creates a midlands folder, and drops about 10 files into it. Run the midlands_bridge_installer.exe program (by double-clicking) from the top folder of where you want the midlands folder to be. So for a C:\midlands install, you should run this program from C:\. This program does NOT change the registry or do anything else except create the midlands directory and extract the few files into it.

  9. Close the browser

  10. If the midlands folder is on a different drive from ITC - In ITC, go to “Edit” then “Companies” and in a Midlands Program, change the bridge setup to go to C:\midlands\midlands.bat (or whatever the drive letter needs to be) Otherwise, leave the default \midlands\midlands.bat

  11. Test the Bridge with a sample quote using firstname TEST and lastname TEST

How do I setup the Bridge from Quick Quote when the server is also used as a workstation?

-QQ bridge set-up w/Server used as WorkStation-

Purpose: When QuickQuote is in use on a network, and different drive letters are used to locate QuickQuote, using a drive letter in the WebLinx company directory will get some workstations to work, but not others, or the server may work while others don't.
This document explains how to work around this problem.
Steps to Follow:
  1. Determine drive that QQ is on on workstations (F:) (from main QQ Menu - Utilities/Saver)

  2. Determine drive that QQ is on on Server (C:) (from main QQ Menu - Utilities/Saver)

  3. From workstation determine \\servername\sharename -
    • Start-Run-Open - type in “cmd” -screen for C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe will appear
    • Type in “NET USE F:” – then you will see what the \\servername\sharename is:

  4. Go to agent's Midlands Website – Download QQ Bridge – The screen will contain:
    • Bridge Install Options: Normal Install (~3MB)
    • Web Browser: Internet Explorer
    • Browser Path: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
    • Company Directory:C:\midlands

  5. At Company Directory remove C: and replace with \\servername\sharename, in this instance \\file1\shared, so now, “Company Directory” would read as \\file1\shared\midlands.

  6. Continue with normal Download File/Save & Extract
